| Remarks | 徳川茂承(1844～1906)は、13代慶福(1846～66)が将軍職に就いた後を受けて14代藩主となった。慶応元(1865)年5月、茂承は、幕府から第2次長州征伐御先手総督を命じられる。閏5月、大軍を率い和歌山を出陣し大坂に入り、翌2年6月3日、蒸気船明光丸で長州に出撃した。戦闘は8月まで続くが幕府軍の大敗に終わり、茂承も9月6日には大坂に帰還した。本図は、敗戦後の茂承以下紀州藩兵の帰還の様子を描いた行列図である。 |
