| Remarks | 安藤直次(1554～1635)は、幼時より徳川家康(1543〜1616)に仕え、さまざまな合戦において戦功をたてた。家康の信頼のおける重臣として家康十男・頼宣(1602〜71)の傅役に任じられ、元和5年(1619)に頼宣が紀伊へ移ると、遠江国掛川（静岡県）から紀伊国田辺に附家老として封ぜられ、名草･有田･日高･牟婁４郡の内で38,800石を給された。本品は、裃を着用して右手に扇を持ち、短刀を腰に差して上畳に座る姿の肖像である。裃には、安藤家の雲板紋（内板紋）がみられる。直次の肖像画としては、ほかに闘鶏神社本・安藤小兵衛家本・和歌山市立博物館本・個人所蔵本の４本が確認されている。個人所蔵本が胴丸姿であるほかは、いずれも束帯姿の肖像となっており、裃姿の肖像は本品のみである。 |
