| Remarks | 江戸時代後期の国学者･本居大平(1756～1833)は松阪に生まれ、13歳で本居宣長に入門し､44歳の時に、宣長の嫡子･春庭に代わり、宣長の養子となって本居家を継いだ。享和2年 (1802)に家督を相続して和歌山藩に出仕し、文化6年(1809)には和歌山に移住した。藩主の信任は厚く、古典を進講したほか、「紀伊続風土記」の編纂にもあたった。本居大平の画像は、本居宣長記念館本ほか数種が知られている。本図は、和歌山出身の画人と思われる金原白玉斎(1784～1826)が描いた大平の肖像画で、本図を含めいずれも自筆の賛を記すが、その和歌はわずかずつ異なる。本図では裃姿に脇差を腰に差した肖像の上に、｢真直なる やまとごころにまなばずば 神のまことの 道をうけえじ｣という自賛の和歌が記されている。 |
