| Remarks | 『西行物語絵巻』は西行の出家から、吉野･熊野･伊勢･中国･四国･東国への流浪の旅を続けたのち、東山双林寺での入滅までの生涯を描いた絵巻物である。13世紀中ごろのものをはじめ、4系統の異本が知られている。当館所蔵のこの資料は、明応9(1500)年に製作された海田采女佑本系統の江戸時代後期の写本の断簡で、白衣の山伏姿の西行が那智の滝の霊気にうたれ、たたずむ場面を描いている。なお、この断簡は海田采女佑本の1つである渡辺家本の巻3の第9紙目にほぼ相当する。 |
