| Remarks | 祇園南海(1676～1751)は、紀州藩の儒者であるが、日本史的にはわが国の文人画の創始者、また詩人として著名である。生活が安定する40歳頃から、四君子・山水などの絵画を描きはじめるが、構図は簡単で、ほとんどが墨一色であり、余白に詩の一節を書する作品が多い。本品は、太湖石に竹を描き、竹を愛でる一句を副えたもので、祇園南海の代表作として知られたものである。 |
