| Remarks | 桑山玉洲(1746～1799)は和歌浦の廻船問屋の家に生まれ、家業に励むかたわら絵画を嗜み、長崎遊学ののち京都の池大雅の門に入り、山水や四君子の優品を数多くのこした。また、実技だけでなく当時隆盛に向かいつつあった文人画についての画論を発表し、後世に多大の影響を与えた。この作品は、豊かで明晰な色彩感覚と柔和な描線に「物形温潤」を旨とする、玉洲独特の感覚が表れており、小品ながら代表作の一つに数えられるものである。画面左上に「玉洲桑嗣燦写」の落款と「桑嗣燦」･「明夫氏」の印、右下に「遊戯絵事」の印が認められる |
