| Remarks | 幕末から明治初年にかけて京都・和歌山で活動した画家･岩瀬広隆(1808～1877)による水墨画の作品。画面左下の岩から生えた梅・竹・蘭を描いている。これらの植物は、寒い季節に耐える「四君子」（蘭・竹・梅・菊）に含まれるもので、高潔な人物の人格や品位を象徴するものとして、東洋画の画題として古くから描かれてきた。広隆は、最も得意とした大和絵のほかにも、錦絵や本品のような文人画まで、様々なジャンル・画題に取り組んでいる。右辺中央に「蕙谷散人隆寫於水鏡山房」の款記、白文方印の「石背隆印」･朱文方印の「蕙谷」という落款がある。「水鏡山房」は、明治初年の広隆の画室の名である。 |
