| Remarks | 紀伊藩14代藩主・徳川茂承(1844～1906)による書で、『論語』衛霊公第十五の「子曰、言忠信、行篤敬、雖蠻貊之邦行矣。言不忠信、行不篤敬、雖州里行乎哉」の文言から引用して、６文字を行草体で大書したもの。款記は「誠堂書」、款印は「従二位源茂承」（白文方印）、「誠堂」（朱文方印）で、関防印は「不失敬」（朱文長方印）である。茂承は、紀伊徳川家13代藩主慶福(1846〜66)が将軍家を継いだため（14代将軍家茂）、急拠、分家である伊予西条松平家から紀伊藩14代藩主となり、幕末から明治維新直後の混乱期に藩政をになった。款印に「従二位」とあることから、叙位された明治10年(1877)以降、没年までの作であることがわかる。 |
