| Remarks | 川上甚蔵は幕末の紀州の鉄砲鍛冶であるが、生没年などは不明である。寛政3年(1791)アメリカ船ジョージ・ワシントン号が紀伊大島の樫野崎沖(串本町)に現われて以後、紀伊藩も海防の要に迫られ、台場･火薬庫の建設や、大砲鋳造･鉄砲製作が急がれた。この火縄銃もその際に大量発注されたもので、銃身に2桁の番号がかすかに確認できる。 |
