| Remarks | 作者の崖熊野(1734～1813)は、紀伊藩の儒学者・文人画家で、和歌山城下の海部郡雑賀に住み、のちに牟婁郡新宮へ移ったとされるが、一説には新宮の生まれで、ゆえに熊野と号したとも伝えられる。水辺の樹木の下の亭で読書する人物を近景に描き、対岸には土坡、そして遠山がみえる。作風はくせのある表現が特徴的とされるが、本品は比較的丁寧かつ穏やかにに仕上げられている。画面上部の余白には、画作についての自賛の文が記される。款記は「熊野老人画并題」、款印は「弘毅之印」「剛先」（いずれも白文方印）である。 |
