| Remarks | 四方入隅形の香合で、底面に向かって少しずつすぼまっている。蓋表に浮き彫りされた人物は、蓮を愛してやまなかった中国･宋代の思想家･周茂叔(敦頤)で、橋の欄干にもたれて水面の蓮をのぞき込む姿とされる。この周茂叔は絵画にも頻繁に描かれたが、香合の意匠としても有名であったようで、江戸時代後期につくられた香合の番付にも、上位に位置づけられている。高台の中には、陰刻銘で「瑞芝」とある。 |
