| Remarks | 本品は、いずれも紀州の三大文人画家の一人・野呂介石(1747〜1828)の門下であった画人3人による合作である。右幅の蘭図は、水野緑岡(1798〜1978)が、中国・明代の方宇「蘭馨伝」という文を記し、その周囲に野際蔡真(1819〜71)が額縁のように取り囲んで蘭を描いたものである。一方左幅の竹図は、同様に緑岡が明代の唐寅「筠隠記」という文を書し、その周囲を楕円形で取り囲むように野際白雪(1773〜1849)が竹図を描いている。緑岡を結節点として、「四君子」に含まれる蘭・竹をテーマにした書画の合作ということができよう。蔡真の落款に「壬戌冬日」とあることから、蘭図は文久2年(1862)の作であることがわかるが、白雪の没後13年にあたるので、まず白雪の生前に制作されていた竹図があり、それと調子を合わせるように、のちに蘭図が制作されたのであろう。 |
