| Remarks | 鈴屋衣をつけ、緑色の座布団に座る本居宣長像である。構図は、宣長61歳自画自賛像(本居宣長記念館蔵、重要文化財)の影響がうかがわれるが、面容はかなり異なったものとなっている。画面の上3分の2を、いずれも文政8(1825)年の本居大平･村田春門による、宣長伝･肖像の由緒書が記され、末尾には有名な「敷島の大和ごころを人問はば、朝日ににほふ山桜花」の歌が記される。この由緒書によれば、本図は宣長死後に自画自賛像を三井高匡が写し取ったものということである。 |
