| Remarks | 川中島合戦のうち、天文23(1554)年と弘治2(1556)年の合戦とを描く。緻密な筆致で人物を描き、群衆描写に城砦などの景物を組み合わせて、見事に構図をまとめ上げる。成立は17世紀後半、狩野派の絵師の作と思われる。描かれている合戦の内容は、紀州藩の越後流(上杉流)軍学者宇佐美定祐が著した『北越軍記』『川中島五箇度合戦記』などにおける記述とよく合致している。そのことから、彼を召し抱えた紀州藩初代藩主徳川頼宣が、定祐に監修させて、製作したものと考えられる。 |
