| Remarks | 包国は、重国の兄弟もしくは兄弟弟子として、家康晩年の駿府（静岡市）で作刀していた刀工と考えられている。この作品は、地鉄は板目肌に杢目交じりでよく詰み、刃文は沸出来の中直刃で砂流しがかかる。元和４年(1618)の銘があり、元和２年の家康没後も引き続き駿府で作刀していたことがわかる。銘の「南蛮鉄」とは、安土桃山時代から江戸時代初期にかけて輸入された海外産の鋼のことで、和鋼（たたら製鉄で生産された国産の鋼）に比べて良質ではないが、舶来品ということで珍重された。赤羽刀。 |
