| Remarks | 画面を、中央の内陣と左右および下縁の外陣の４区に分け、内陣には観無量寿経に説く阿弥陀浄土(極楽)の情景、下縁は地獄図、右縁および左縁は生前の積善と悪業を祖師伝風に、それぞれ極彩色で描いている。通例の阿弥陀浄土変相図は、阿弥陀浄土の周囲に十六観想･九品往生を配置するが、本品のように積善と悪業そして地獄の情景を書き加えた図柄は珍しく、『観無量寿経』などの経典の内容をわかりやすく絵解きするための唱道画として描かれたものと考えられる。なお、破損や虫蝕が著しいが、当初の桐箱が付属しており、その墨書によると、直川村（和歌山市）の謙蓮社という堂舎に天保８年(1837)に奉納された什物であったことがわかる。 |
