| Remarks | 紀元前12世紀頃に中国・周王朝を創建し、古代の理想的な聖人君主の典型とされた文王が、釣りをしている太公望（呂尚）を登用する場面を中央幅に描き、右幅に大瀑布と松・麒麟を、左幅には階段状の瀑布と桐・鳳凰を配した作品。全体に謹直な筆致で描かれており、麒麟と鳳凰の配置や、瀑布のダイナミックな構図などには、左右の対比も強く感じられる。作者の岩井泉流(1714～72)は、江戸在住の紀伊藩のお抱え絵師で、狩野派の絵を学んだとされる。文王と太公望が対面する場面を描くこの主題は、狩野派作品の中にいくつか事例がある。文王・桐・鳳凰などが名君や太平の世を示す吉祥主題であるため、紀伊藩の公務に関わる制作であったと想定される。 |
