| Remarks | 紀州の三大文人画家の一人・祇園南海(1676～1751)が描いたと伝えられる菊図。画面向かって右手から菊が伸び、中央で上中下の三方向に展開する。下方には茨のような枝が伸びて、これらが倒れそうな左下の菊に対応し、画面に安定感を与える。菊の葉は没骨で描き、やや青みを帯びた墨を用いる。一方、菊の花は花弁を丁寧に二筆で輪郭線を縁取って描き、花の中央部には点描で蕊をあらわす。茨の一部や菊の花弁の中心部、および葉脈の部分には濃墨を用いて、画面のアクセントとする。 |
