| Remarks | 紀伊藩の儒学者で、紀州三大文人画家の一人・祇園南海(1676～1751)が描いた墨竹図で、近年存在が確認された作品。画面の右下から伸びる竹は、やや太い幹を上部へまっすぐ展開させ、一方の細い枝は画面右下から左上へと対角線上に配されており、比較的小さな画面を広く見せる構図上の工夫がうかがえる。淡墨による竹の幹と、濃墨による竹葉とのコントラストも効果的で、数少ない筆致の中にも、遠近感や竹葉の前後関係を見事に表現している。画面左下に書かれた五言詩句は、竹の幹の枝分かれや葉の連なりを、子孫繁栄と見立てている。款印は「阮瑜之印」「白玉氏」、関防印は「風雨孕山」、遊印は「竹溪弌逸」「宜假」である。 |
