| Remarks | 原品は、大正７年(1918)に那智経塚から発見された資料のひとつで、東京国立博物館に所蔵される。銅製鍍金で、榻座に半跏で座り、左手を右足踵に置いて、右手は右膝に肘をついて頰に指を付ける思惟の姿に表される。上半身を裸形とし、胸飾や瓔珞、天衣を表さず、裙のみをまとう。装飾性を抑えた表現は、広隆寺弥勒菩薩半跏像や韓国・国立中央博物館の菩薩半跏像などとも共通し、飛鳥時代・７世紀の制作である。現在では弥勒菩薩像と比定されるが、経塚が営まれた中世の時代には、如意輪観音と認識されていた。 |
