| Remarks | 田中荘と荒川荘(いずれも紀の川市)との間の、紀の川南岸地域に関する堺相論は、12世紀半ばころに発生し、江戸時代に入ってからは、紀伊藩領と高野山寺領との争いに発展するが、宝永3年(1706)には、幕府によって藩領田中荘に有利な裁定がなされ、一応の決着をみた。本図は、元禄12年(1699)に紛争が顕在化した際に、田中荘内の西大井村の絵師･楠右衛門によって描かれたもので、紀ノ川南岸における田中荘の主張する山林の範囲を朱線で囲んでいる。 |
