| Remarks | 田中荘(打田町)と荒川荘(桃山町)との間の、紀ノ川南岸地域に関する堺相論は、12世紀半ばころに発生し、江戸時代に入ってからは、紀州藩領と高野山領との争いに発展するが、宝永3(1706)年には幕府によって、藩領田中荘に有利な裁定がなされ、一応の決着をみた。本図は、元禄12(1699)年に紛争が顕在化した際に、田中荘内の西大井村の絵師･楠右衛門によって描かれたもので、紀ノ川南岸における田中荘の主張する山林の範囲を朱線で囲んでいる。 |
