| Remarks | 役行者(後小角)の画像としては古い資料は少なく、元徳3(1331)年銘を持つ日光･輪王寺本や室町時代の根津美術館本が知られているが、本図はそれらに続く時期の資料である。根津美術館本と構図は類似しており、頭巾を被り、衲衣の上に袈裟をつけ、その上に葛衣をまとって、従者の前鬼･後鬼を伴う。ただ、根津美術館本が左手に杖、右手に独鈷をもつのに対して、本図では左手に数珠、右手に独鈷をもち、杖は前鬼が持つ点が異なる。 |
