| Remarks | 幕末〜明治初年の画人・岡本緑邨(1811～81)についての略歴は詳らかでないが、本品左幅の落款に｢港南草堂｣と記されていることから、和歌山城下湊の南に居があったようである。作品は、富裕な町人層にまで広まった絵画需要に対応して、色彩鮮明な花鳥図や山水図が多い。この双幅もその典型で、春夏秋冬の草花を、配色や構図も巧みに組み合わせている。右幅には、牡丹・芍薬・立葵・百合・菖蒲・躑躅・木蓮・海棠、左幅には、梅・水仙・菊・芙蓉・秋海棠・椿が描かれているが、とくに季節で区分しているわけではない。右幅の款記は「緑邨直」、左幅の款記は「壬申孟夏寫於港南草堂緑邨索者剛直」とあり、明治5年(1872)の作である。 |
